Alpha Delta Pi: What Makes Our House a Home

Hey y’all! My name is Delaney Lloyd, and I’m a junior in Alpha Delta Pi pursuing a dual degree in Psychology with a Behavior Analysis specialization and Criminology with a Communication Studies minor. I previously served as Alpha Delta Pi’s Ronald McDonald House Specialist and Vice President of Operations, and I currently serve as our chapter’s Vice President of Panhellenic Relations.

Throughout my time as an Alpha Delta Pi at the University of Florida, our sorority has undergone significant changes in terms of our chapter facility. When I ran home to Alpha Delta Pi, I actually ran home to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Fall of 2019. The Fall 2019 new members ran home to the stadium in the absence of a house that year. Our house had previously been leveled a few months prior, in preparation to build a brand new house in its place on 831 West Panhellenic Drive. Since then, our new house has been built and our chapter women have finally had a place to call home for the past two years.

The most special part about our new house, however, is what makes it a home. There are a few unique aspects of our home that every alumni, chapter woman, and visitor find special. The first unique section of our home is our spirit room. The spirit room is a space where chapter women can go to work on all things arts and crafts. The floor is made of concrete and nothing is off limits, so everything from spray painting chapter letters to canvas/cooler painting to designing clothes for the next game day happen here. The next special area in our house are the private study rooms that are conducive to collaborative or individual work depending on your needs. Decked out in floral and purple decor, the study rooms in our house make studying for midterms and finals a little more enjoyable. Another unique area of our home is our sun deck. Whether it’s working on your tan or doing a workout class led by some of your closest friends, there is a space on the second floor that is exposed to the Florida sunshine. The last room that is unique in our chapter facility is the living room space commonly known as the “fishbowl”. The fishbowl is where everyone gathers on the couch together to watch the latest episode of the Bachelor or to play a game of Dance Dance Revolution. It’s a common space for all, and it definitely is the shared space for a lot of laughs and quality time. As always, we love to show off our new home and are always welcome to visitors! Anyone is welcome to enjoy our home the same way we do <3

With Love,

Delaney Lloyd and Alpha Delta Pi
