Kappa Delta: looKeD for the signs

During recruitment this past fall, I had the rare experience to go through formal recruitment as a rising junior. I say rare only because a majority of the girls going through the same process as me were rising freshman. I loved recruitment so much! It was so much fun, and the experience made me into a better person.

When I was trying to navigate where I’d feel most at home, I looked for signs to know I was making the right choice. During my freshman and sophomore year, I used to go on runs around Sorority Row and would pass all of the houses thinking about what they looked like inside and how it felt to be a member of one of them. I always noticed Kappa Delta specifically because of its address numbers: 1122. 11/22 just so happens to be my birthday and as silly as it may sound, I remember this being a telling sign that Kappa Delta was the place for me.

I feel so seen and loved in Kappa Delta. The women I’m surrounded by on a daily basis are motivating, strong, smart and inspiring. I feel humbled by the fact that I went through two years of college without that sisterhood, but I remember feeling so grateful during recruitment to be going through the process. It can be an overwhelming change to join a sorority, especially at UF where all of the chapters are so amazing. It’s important to prioritize what’s important like doing schoolwork and studying but also bonding with new people that will change your life for the better. From my personal experience, I can see that every chapter here wants success for their members. Kappa Delta has quickly become home and every time I see the 1122, I am reminded of how lucky I am to be a Kappa Delta.

With love,
